BRINGER OF GORE interview by Marc Luyten (thanx man) |
1. Ok, i must confess that FONDLECORPSE is all new to me, my first contact was the split 7” with INKBLACK and later the LIMBLESS 7”. Are there any releases that i have missed? Can you tell how FONDLECORPSE is started?
Well Fondlecorpse has been around since 1996 and the name comes from a picture I drew and I wrote down next to it Fondlecorpse and figured hey this is a good name for a band. Over the years I have been plagued with many line-up changes the one in 1999 being the worst, the band fell apart right before recording. But in 2001 a new line-up formed and recorded the first 7” in 2002. And we have been together ever since. I am very happy with this line-up because we are all serious about our music. So far we released those two 7” records and recently the Razorback Records Compilation cd was released with an exclusive song from us. Thats pretty much our discography for now.
2. OAKKING records sounds also new to me and on the release numbers of both 7” ’s they are! How did you came in contact and do you maybe know what release 001 was? Oakking rex is basically just our buddy Treeman who helped us out he’s been a friend of the band for a while, he quit his label/distro a while back but he came back to help us out. 001 was the band Slamfist that band died a long time ago.
3. Mathijs and Bas also play in INKBLACK, does that mean that FONDLECORPSE is a project that they join or is it a full-time band that is also as much important as INKBLACK for them?
MATHIJS : well for me it started as a project for the first release in which i only played the bass-parts for the music that already was created at that moment. Only the bass-licks weren´t created yet and so i had the honour and duty to put them together with the other music. After that first release The guys asked me to join Fondlecorpse as a ´full-time´ bandmember and I really liked the work that was created for the first release so I thought it was a good time to join the other couchpotatoes! Nowadays, as a full-time member, i help with writing and composing the music. Although we don´t rehearse and perform a lot with Fondlecorpse as we do with Inkblack, Fondlecorpse is equally important for me. I really enjoy creating music for both bands.
BAS : Mmmmmm it has been a long time since anyone asked me such a stupid question as this................. =P only playin with ya hahahaha, but seriously Fondlecorpse is just my other band, for me it's just as valuable as INKBLACK. But instead of dealing with all other nonmusical situations I get to do only the fun parts. Just creating the tunes whereas the mighty filthy Gory Gnome deals with all the other aspects for Fondlecorpse, which seem to work out pretty amazing as one looks to the releases we have done already and will do in the near future. We have some quality releases scheduled so keep your eyezzzz peeled!!!!
4. Any plans for a full-lenght album? Hey...... you could also release it in PICTURE LP with the artwork of JAKE FUCKING GOREMASTER KARNS!!! this should be a killer result!! A Full-lenght has been in the works for a while now, we signed for that fucker with Razorback Records but we decided we first wanted to grow as a band and establish our own sound before we make our full-enght, rushing a release is never a good idea we think. So we decided we wanted to first go through the demo/7” phase before making a full-lenght. The cd will be called Creaturegore and will be totally dedicated to all the b-movie gore creatures we know and love like gremlins, ghoulies, critters should be a blast. Hopefully we can start recording it in 2005. We have been thinking about doing a picture LP somewhere in the future, but making vinyl is very hard and expensive. And we don’t have any funds for it now sadly but who knows??
5. How do you think about the current PATHO./HORROR/GRINDGORE scene worldwide? If you would ask me it was never as big as today!! And still growing! Your comment please? Well partly it’s good partly bad, it’s cool that it’s relatively easier for bands to get known and for me to find new cool bands and connect with fellow freaks, but i also see a big influx of crap bands and “trendy” poser scum, and it’s easier for posers and ripp-offs to operate these days because of the internet. As far as Patho and Horror gore i think the scene is still quite small and still not as big as people think it is. I think some bands just have a somewhat higher profile now.
6. Can you tell something about future plans ; releases ; ......? Well our Future plans are to keep uniting people under our Couchpotatoe B-movie gore banner and releasing more stuff. As far as future releases we have two new comps coming up, we are working on the split cd with fellow freaks Engorged we are very psyched for that one its going to be a tribute to 80’s cartoons and thrashculture, do our full lenght cd on Razorback Records, than we have split 7” records planned with Frightmare, Zombie Ritual and Kadaverficker and some more offers but they are being worked on. So there’s a shitload of new stuff coming up!!
7. Ok guys, That was it for this time, Don’t stop with releasing some fine 7” ‘s and keep on spreading your COUCH POTATOE GORE!!!!! Any last words.... screams ....gurgles... to the readers?
